Design Drivers using the Supramar Anti Cavitation Groove (SAG)
The SAG is here to break the classic speed barrier for foils, blades and internal flow channels experienced at some 30 m/s in low pressure and near atmospheric pressure applications.
consider the gains possible (paying for by a somewhat increased profile drag) :
A. reduced or no damaging cavitation at any speed (the price to pay is increased profile or pressure drag due to increased boundary layer thickness)
B. no supercavitation at any speed, giving monotonous dependence of lift vs angle of attack over increased range of angle of attack at whole speed range
C. airfeed for lift variation control with minimum response time (typical less than 30 milliseconds) with no speed limit.
